Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. These are pictures of the glaciers in the Columbia Ice Field, an ice plane over 100 sq. miles that feed six major glaciers and many smaller ones. Its ice is over 800 feet thick. The Athabasca Glacier was the closest one we could see. It is over 4 miles long and 6/10 of a mile long and is moving about 50 feet a year down the mountain. Very impressive. As we continued to drive through the Park we kept seeing more glaciers. The Rockies are beautiful!
